Managing the Estate
GL RFCA manages all the properties and facilities used by Reserves and Cadets in Greater London, known collectively as the Volunteer Estate. We provide a complete professional maintain, sustain and change management service to the occupying units administering 194 locations within the M25.
There are 46 Reserve Force Centres in London including one Royal Navy Reserve base, HMS President, a Royal Marines Reserve Centre, Wandsworth Barracks, as well as a Reserve unit at RAF Northolt, RAF Kenley aerodrome and some 147 Cadet establishments including four Cadet Training Centres.
The Volunteer Estate ranges in style and size from listed Georgian houses to small timber buildings, from sites of tens of square metres to up to three acres. The age of properties ranges from original drill halls built at the turn of the 20th century to new purpose built facilities such as The Princess Royal House in Sutton.
In total we manage more than 94 Ha of land including approximately 300,000m2 of built areas and 646,000m2 of landways, hardstanding and runways.
Our service includes all essential maintenance and repair, lease negotiations and assessments, as well as health and safety compliance of all assets and associated audit assurance. We have successfully designed and project managed multi-million pound rebuilds and full refurbishments of both Reserve and Cadet locations.
