On Saturday 29th June Parade participants from B Coy 4PWRR, 240 Tpt Sqn RLC and 169 Coy REME joined veterans including the Queens Regimental Association and Gurkha Brigade Association and Cadets from all three services in the borough including an RAF Cadet band. The Military Preparation Training College were also in attendance.
In front of an audience of Civic dignitaries including the Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Representative Deputy Lieutenant, CEO of the RAF Museum, MP’s and visitors to the museum, 170 Officers, soldiers, ex-servicemen and women and cadets stood on parade while the Mayor raised the Armed Forces Flag and made a speech. The parade was reviewed in sections by several dignitaries.
The Worshipful Mayor of Barnet, Councillor Caroline Stock, said: “I am delighted that we have been able to partner with the RAF Museum for this occasion. Barnet is closely connected to the armed forces and this day is a great opportunity to recognise our service men and women, past and present, for their bravery and dedication to the Forces.”
After the parade the Deputy Lieutenant Mr Martin Russell presented awards to deserving cadets under the Lancaster Bomber in the museum.
