The Association is pleased to announce Colonel Peter Germain as Chief Executive. Colonel Germain joins us from the Ministry of Defence where in his final military role he led the MoD Employer Engagement Policy team. He served for over 30 years in the British Army including postings all over the UK, in Northern Ireland, Germany, Bosnia, Belize, Afghanistan and the USA.
Colonel Peter Germain - Biography
Colonel Germain joined the Prince of Wales’ Own as a regular infantry officer in 1986 after completing a BA Hons in Business. In his early career he served in Northern Ireland and the Airmobile and Armoured Infantry role. He was posted as a captain instructor to the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and then spent time as an operations staff officer in 1 (UK) Armoured Division in Germany. He was selected to attend the Royal Military College of Science in 1995 and then the UK Advanced Command and Staff College in Camberley, completing an MA in Military Studies from Cranfield University. Following two years as a Company Commander, he became Chief of Staff of an Integrated Project Team at the Defence Procurement Agency overseeing the development of a range of military equipment projects.
On promotion to Lt Col he was assigned as the Military Assistant to CDS’ Liaison Officer working with the United States Joint Staff in the Pentagon. After commanding his Regiment in Catterick and Bosnia in the Air Assault role he then ran the British Army Training Unit in Belize, Central America, specializing in complex terrain and jungle warfare training for infantry battlegroups. This was followed by nine months in Afghanistan as Chief of Staff of a US led National Guard Mentoring Team for an Afghan Corps HQ. After a staff role in the MoD in the Defence Media and Communications directorate he was promoted full Colonel in 2013 as the UK’s National Military Representative at NATO’s HQ Supreme Allied Command Transformation (SACT) in Virginia, USA. His final military role was as the Head of Employer Engagement for the UK MOD in London.
