ImageDescription: LONDON RESERVISTS HONE THEIR SOLDIERING SKILLS IN SPAIN More than one hundred Army Reservists, from the capital’s premier infantry reserve regiment, The LONDON REGIMENT, have swapped their day jobs for the hills of Catalonia in Southern Spain. For the next two weeks, the Army Reservists, who are paid, spare-time soldiers, will be staying in San Clemente near Barcelona for their two week Annual Training Period on EXERCISE IBERIAN STAR. Hosted by Spain’s 62nd Mountain Regiment, the country’s elite fighting force, the reservists will be staying at La Molina Barracks and will be working closely alongside their Spanish counterparts, conducting a range of exercises specifically designed to hone their soldiering skills in a diverse environment. A group of 10 regular soldiers from the 1st Battalion The Scots Guards will also bring their valuable experience to the training programme which will include opportunities to practice Reconnaissance, Operations in Built Up Areas, Vehicle Check Point Controls, Trench Warfare, Section Attacks and Night Time Operations requiring the soldiers to camp out in the field. The rugged and hostile mountainous terrain, along with searing temperatures, will give the Reservists very challenging conditions in which to train, as well providing a cultural experience. The two weeks will culminate in a final six-day demanding and realistic exercise, which will see the British and Spanish soldiers putting in to practice all their newfound skills, being pushed to their limits. The London Regiment has locations throughout Greater London; Balham, Blackheath, Camberwell, Catford, Clapham, Edgware, Hornsey and Westminster.

Comments: LONDON RESERVISTS HONE THEIR SOLDIERING SKILLS IN SPAIN More than one hundred Army Reservists, from the capital "!s premier infantry reserve regiment, The LONDON REGIMENT, have swapped their day jobs for the hills of Catalonia in Southern Spain. For the next two weeks, the Army Reservists, who are paid, spare-time soldiers, will be staying in San Clemente near Barcelona for their two week Annual Training Period on EXERCISE IBERIAN STAR. Hosted by Spain "!s 62nd Mountain Regiment, the country "!s elite fighting force, the reservists will be staying at La Molina Barracks and will be working closely alongside their Spanish counterparts, conducting a range of exercises specifically designed to hone their soldiering skills in a diverse environment.
