US Embassy to host special WW1 lecture for young Londoners
To mark the centenary of the United States entering World War I, the US Embassy is hosting a special lecture for young Londoners titled The Doughboys - The American Experience in WW1.
Introduced by the U.S. Chargé d'Affaires Lewis Lukens, and featuring Dr Spencer Jones Senior Lecture in War Studies at Wolverhampton University and photographer Mike Sheila, the lecture will explore the American experience in WWI. It aims:
To understand the context of the American entry into the First World War, which occurred on 6 April 1917, and help raise student awareness of the centenary.
To present the students with a more concise understanding of the contribution of the American Expeditionary Force during WWI
To respond to student questions about the American Experience in WWI.
The lecture will take place on Pearl Harbour Day, 7 December 2017 from 6:15pm, at The Royal Geographical Society, 1 Kensington Gore, SW7 2AR.
